Interests

 Owns a large collection of photographs and documents about Lebanon and especially about Tripoli, some of which published on the World Wide Web at the Tripoli Internet Database (http://tripoli-city.org).

 Photographed several Arab and Islamic cities (arts, traditions, crafts, etc.). Currently, his library includes about 20,000 positive slide prints.

 Interviewed on several Lebanese television stations to talk about aspects of architecture, heritage, and historical cities in Lebanon.

Beyoğlu’ndaki Tarık Zafer Tunaya Kültür Merkezi’nde düzenlenen bir toplantı ile Lübnan’ın ikinci büyük kenti Trablus tanıtıldı. Eminönü Belediyesi’nin yeni kardeş şehri olan Trablus’tan gelen Tarihçi Prof. Dr. Ömer Tadmori’nin Trablus’un tarihini anlattığı programda Dr. Mimar Halid Ömer Tadmori de dia gösterisiyle Trablus’u tanıttı. Eminönü Belediye Başkanı Lütfi Kibiroğlu da Trablus’la ilgili anılarını anlattı.

Trablus’un Eminönü’ne çok fazla benzediğini ve zaten kardeş olduğunu söyleyen Eminönü Belediye Başkanı Lütfi Kibiroğlu “Eminönü ile Trablus’un çok ortak yanı var” dedi.

Kardeş şehir adına konuşma yapan Tarihçi Prof. Dr. Ömer Tadmori, nüfus ve yüzölçümü olarak Trablus’un Lübnan’ın ikinci büyük kenti olduğunu ve geçmişinin 3500 yıla kadar dayandığını anlattı. Fenikeliler tarafından deniz kenarına inşa edilen Trablus’un Memlüklerin eline geçtikten sonra denizden üç kilometre geriye taşındığını ifade eden Tadmori 1516 tarihinden itibaren Osmanlı idaresine geçen Trablusşam’da başta Trablus Kalesi’nin ana kapısı ve kuzey burcu olmak üzere birçok Osmanlı eserinin bulunduğunu vurguladı. Tadmori, Abdülhamit Han’ın culusunun 25. yıldönümünde inşa ettirdiği saat kulesinin de şehrin önemli eserlerinden olduğunu ifade etti.
